Luminaria Update: Release 3


Luminaria's third release is out now! This marks our official final release of the game, and the culmination of a year's worth of work. There will be no further major updates as many of us are graduating and/or moving on to new projects. 

Here's what's new:

  • Visual improvements: Several background elements of the firefly hut and spider caves have been animated for a more dynamic and lively look. All placeholder sprites have been replaced with final art. Additional particle systems and lighting have also been added.
  • Character controls: The character controller has been reworked again based on player feedback, and now feels much more responsive and satisfying. 
  • New characters: Aspen will encounter a brand new cast of characters during her journey! Meet Chestnut, Petunia, Marigold, and Poppy, and help rescue them from the mysterious spider caves. 
  • New and improved puzzles: The spider cave puzzles have undergone a major rework, making them more intuitive and fun to solve.
  • Improved sound design: The spider caves and firefly hut levels now have their own unique soundtracks, and other various sound effects have been reworked and improved.
  • Bug fixes: Players are no longer able to climb walls in the spider caves, Aspen no longer gets stuck in their falling animation on platforms, and various other game-breaking bugs have been resolved.
